The story of Orange Cottage began with a simple family trip. In 2010, a family of five visited Kodaikanal, excited to experience the beauty of the hills. But their journey took an unexpected turn — heavy rainfall and a large tourist crowd had filled every room in town. After hours of searching, they finally found a single room to stay in.

That experience left a lasting impression. The head of the family made a quiet promise: the next time they visited Kodaikanal, they would have a home of their own.

Keeping that promise, the family purchased a house near Kurinji Andavar Temple in 2012. What began as a private family home soon became something much more. Inspired by their own experience — and the desire to give other travellers a warm, comfortable place to stay — the home was transformed into Orange Cottage Kodaikanal in 2014.

Since then, we have welcomed guests from across India and around the world. For over a decade, our mission has remained the same — to make every guest feel at home while creating memories in the heart of Kodaikanal.
